The Lineage of Goodwill: Debt we owe humanity

Let's face it, no one came from nowhere or simply fell from the sky; we all have a lineage, a background, history... something that we hold on to and it shapes & molds us to be who we are. Believe you in me, your parents or guardians made an impact in your life; financially, emotionally, spiritually and mentally and you ought to pass it to the next generation, person next to you or skewed crown fellas. Get me right, I'm not suggesting you to father a child but mentor, coach, inspire and encourage someone. At times all you need doing is adding a smile on someone's face. Where did we get the spirit of arrogance from? Certainly not my Father, Lord Almighty; well do the math, lol. Why have we grown comfortable with all the good/offers for self, my family, my friends, my.... what of other; is there ever a time for them? We've become selfish with showcasing goodwill/making impact as our ultimate goal, as we desire to be the shooting star and not the shinning star. Well, ...

Beyond the startup: Growing to pioneer

I got engaged in a constructive conversation where my take home note was, "Africa doesn't have a lot of start-up and from the majority that exist, they do not go far, but crumble somewhere along the way." This resonated in my head for a while as I tried to generate possible outcomes for such and ways to counteract the beast that make companies, products, business... extinct. Today I'm not here to discuss on causes but encouraging us to thrive and push for decades in existence and possibly centuries hereafter. Truly, Africa needs Africans to rise. To pioneer something is the greatest strength one can have. Remember, you know your vision, we don't; just waiting to see your blueprints so as to applaud or make mockery of you. Are you going to fail your vision? Believe you in me, pioneering something is never easy but always associated with the joy of the aftermath. Go on, do your research, start something, push even if you seem to be on a standstill, strategise, re-s...

A thorn in my flesh

Image
Those who love connecting with nature can attest that God created 'good' magnificent environment and all therein. Trees, rivers, animals coexist together and somewhat have a healing effect and a way to detoxify our mindsets. Ironically, the beautiful roses that offer sweet fragrance, syrup/juice are mainly used in bouquets can be dangerous as they might prickle with their thorns. It can cause pain, at times swelling, itching or irritation, taking me to my topic for the day; a thorn in my flesh. I took this photo and thought about how God created such a 'good' magnificent environment... but even here, among the beauty, we find the thorns. Piercings are less painful when the object is taken out. When one has a thorn in the flesh, in as much as it is painful, it has to come out. By so doing, one's relieved. Thorn in my flesh simply mean pain inflicted by the least expected thing/being, something/someone meant to protect or bring joy. Words, betrayal, slap in the face...

Celebrating Christmas not X-mas

Merry Christmas to you all🥳 As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, let this mark the birth of eternal life, peace, love, joy, healing, setting of captives free, beautification of ashes, restoration, and the will of God. May you increase in Truth, wisdom, fear of God, favour, power, and dominion. Let’s resemble Christ in humility, giving, compassion, and goodwill. As we step into 2026, let's majestically walk with boldness as sons and daughters of the Most High. Abounding in love ...✍️ Nnessy💕

Journey to self-discovery

A journey of a thousand miles they say, begins with one step. There I am, making preparations for a journey whose outcome is unknown. Change of site is said to be good, I agree but how do people counteract the fear of the unknown. It's as if the future is grey shaded and my light seems not bright enough to torch way ahead. My lens seem limited, this is where I have to bank my trust in the supernatural for guidance.  It's as if my future is laid before me with pieces of puzzles awaiting to be co-joined. Is this normal? Can anyone relate? Is fear invertible? Well, I see myself sitting by the window, staring at the motionless nature as the engine is being steamed up, heading to what I would describe as a fresh start. The irony lies in the fact that I feel scared yet all the same excited. " Have you pursued something in life that feels scary? How did you tackle your fears? Was the decision and outcome worth the effort? Are you proud of what transpired? Well, change is good, w...

The power of non-vocal thoughts

Image
There I was sitting by the window, staring at the drizzling rain. Tic,k tock, tick, tock, as the minute hand went, I was lost in wonderland. I could not hear the sounds of my surrounding, let alone the amazing petrichor. I kept on staring as if there was some kind of entertainment going on, only to realise how much time travelled in what seemed to be a minute. What I was mesmerizing on, believe you in me, I don’t know. Maybe my mind simply went blank. Truly, thoughts are bigger than our imagination and we can come to an agreement, “As a man thinketh, so is he.” Thoughts somewhat govern us and ironically we have no control over them. What’s running in your mind as you read this? Thoughts, lol. Can we shape our future with thoughts? Can we build on them? Can we bank on them? As a man thinketh, so is he; really? If so, shouldn’t we add a curriculum of nurturing thoughts to the syllabus so as to build a generation of constructive individuals. Thoughts are really powerful weapons fashi...

We need wisdom

Image
Until your wisdom attracts people to it, my dear, you ought to invest. There's carnal wisdom and divine wisdom & one can understand that the other is limited. Seeking to go far, seek wisdom from above. Allow God take you where you ought to be but be willing to move. Everything is attainable only if you invest in thyself. Solomon only asked in a dream for wisdom, it was granted coupled with wealth. His household alone showcased wisdom and his ruling - phenomenal. Promotion does not come from the East or from the South. Ask God above for wisdom, for the Word says, 'Let he who is without wisdom ask.' Imagine, a world full of individuals having the wisdom of God. How beautiful can it be? Choose wisdom, be wise. Thank you😊

Confidence is magical

Image
Confidence happens to be the missing link between self and connection to the world or my surrounding. Wisdom enables one not to be confident and arrogant but consider others. Confidence is the driving force to one shunning timidness and unleashing self. With it you're bold, courageous and ready to tackle the world. Sometimes it silences fear. It is easier to create your personal brand with confidence. Charm is deceitful and confidence, phenomenal; a key to unlocking opportunities. I vouch for you to honour confidence at all times and remain winning in all your endeavours. Choose to be confident but be sure to invest in yourself, for it is more like an energy boaster. Investment can be in the form of research,  mentorship, learning from mistakes/past experience, others or other resources and constant evolving. Building on one's confidence should be a daily dosage ~ Nnessy💕 Thank you 😊

Pap, my teacher

Image
There I found myself in the four corners of my mom's kitchen, having crickets sing in the background/dark, of course outside. I stood by the stove with a wooden cooking stick in my hand, having stomach grumblings and desiring a warm meal. Like any other, I was ready to become a magician, converting raw products into yummy-licious meal.  One can imagine the wars that took place in the kitchen. I placed my hot water in the pot, added my mealie meal. Lo and behold, the ingredients became violent, screaming to come out. Out of curiosity, I did the unimaginable, opening the pot. Mind you, at this point, it was restless, moving up and down like popcorn. I didn't realise that opening the pot was simply booking a match. In no time, pap won. It popped onto my skin, causing a blister to occur. In anguish, I killed its vibe by adding more mealie meal and staring as the recipe demands without granting it ample time for boiling/popping. I successfully had a meal on my table, yeah, right, ...

Being part of the winning challenge, 'you'

Image
The 'it' challenge of the year 2025 should go to "you." Yeah right, challenging yourself. It's very funny that we don't know the power or the. inner strength we possess unless we're tried. We're a generation so used to various challenges/trends on social media and never ourselves. We don't challenge our norms, values, way of living, thinking, processing nor mindset; neither do we challenge our capacity or potentiality. Well, I'm here to remind you, you're an individual in a time ticking zone, full of opportunities and growth but surviving at the top requires you to challenge your status quo.  I'm sorry, today's message ain't all lovey-dovey on the sweet, adorable challenges you're used to indulging in, but the often avoided routes. We're scared of facing the reality of the world and solving practical issues affecting us; therefore,  we tend to dwell in our fantasy of doable challenges, seeking to be the next genius recor...

Stop looking for validation in people

Learn, unlearn and relearn from people. Seek advice and counsel but don't get your validation in them. Be the driver of your own life, you know your destination... Let me know what you think in the comment section. Thank you 😊

Activate the inner you

We're all aware that if we install an app today, after a certain period, we receive notifications on when to activate. I sometimes wonder why, as humans, we refrain from upgrading but still choose to be competent enough and update apps. How does that even work? Reading, zero. Personal development, none. Let's not even attempt to speak on self-activation. I choose not to know the stage you are in life, be it school, marriage, courtship, singlehood... but are you doing yourself enough justice? Can you claim to have activated the inner you? The Book of Wisdom says, "What defiles a man is not what enters inside but what comes out." Confusing right? How can what come out affect us? Well, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. Information that you ingest gets processed and it comes out either as words or actions; that is why I am emphasizing on activating the inner you. Steps to activating the inner you. Make sure there is peace and stillness from within . ...

Glass Diamond

Everybody loves good things and being the best. Shining is our ultimate goal in life, and it should not be at the cost of anyone. Sometimes we view a facade as the ultimate picture, or we simply hold on to glass as if it is a precious mineral. Diamond our award-winning jewel for years, whom everyone wants but fortune seems not to be favourable to all humankind. It's always glass diamond 99.9% of us get, thus; having an acceptable will not a perfect one. We need to change the narrative. Glass diamond is simply having something that looks original but being fake like lables (Gucci, Nike...). It is the exact imitation of the original copy. How many of you agree with me that given a range of expensive items and similar looking low cost, you would ought for the relatively cheap. What you will be thinking of is quantity not quality. As you can see, glass diamond can be by choice. Some of us live in Utopian worlds and are comfortable with the facade. The outside world exists but does not...

35-year-old sells her daughter

Image
My heart was heavily saddened after learning of the 35 year old South African lady who sold her daughter Joshlin Smith for only R1100.00 The sad part iis that being a biological mother to this pretty damsel, she had the gut to kidnap and sell her child to a Sangoma. What is society turning into? This is no different from murdering her own blood. How can one be so heartless to give away a precious soul for items which are vanity? I'm still in shock as to how cruel society can be for personal gain. Some kill for riches and glory, others steal to make big names and to some sacrifice equals power but, all is vanity. I agree with Shakespeare, " Out, out, brief candle! Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, That struts and frets his hour upon the stage, And then is heard no more. It is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing ." We're so caught up in today's swift that we forget tomorrow exists, how pathetic.  Just like Joshlin's...

Be the shining star not the shooting star

Back at it, talking of making impact. We're this microwave generation that likes making it to the top headlines, newsflash, glam and fame. At times we end up opting for the shooting star that announces its presence. Yes, it makes noticeable blueprints but only remain for a while & is heard no more. Choice is yours, shining star or shooting star. I'm a superstar😆 Shining stars are amazing.  They always avail themselves in a clear night sky. What make them phenomenal is their energy to shine throughout the night and still showing up the next day. People associated to these stars are reliable and they shine in and out of season, always soaring high. They are fuelled to constantly shine unlike shooting stars that sky rocket only for a moment. Such people are full of wisdom and understanding/knowledge; that is, it is difficult to tell when they are undergoing their best or worst due to their consistency in shining & how they handle situations. They always find a way aroun...

Integrity wins

Image
Have you ever been in a compromising situation where you thought of neglecting your values and morals in a bid to win obstacles? Well, that which you value, validate, your morals or principles is your integrity. Integrity also entells doing good even if no one is watching.  Do you have integrity? I've learnt that leadership with lack of integrity and ethics is simply heading to a doom because such leadership skill is comprised of honesty, fairness, respect and responsibility to mention a few. Imagine, having an employee who gives false statistics; wrong or incorrect judgements/solutions/feedback can be achieved, jeopardizing business or negatively imparting an organisation. Do you apply integrity in your day to day lifestyle? Can someone rely on you? Those who lack integrity can flourish a short time and fail to remain or stay up there. Such a virtue is powerful. In order to build healthy relations, we need it. Be it home, school, work... exercise it. Gain trust through integ...

Lost identity 3 (Lost but found)

Image
Self-discovery   There's nothing as beautiful as finding self. Over the past few months I've learnt it's absolutely okay to be vulnerable in order to gain potentiality. For unknown reasons, I've always believed to be a multi-potentialite whereas I'm courageous. Bunch of confusing jargon buh I found myself around it. Pick a boo, I see you... There's Nnessy, she's been hiding the whole time, now ready to flaunt the world. I was a mess, crown diaries can sum that up. I didn't like identifying myself as African though I love my afro kinky. Identity crisis... I'm grateful to my friend who gave me a different perspective of Africa. I am now proudly African, though it took me ages to realise that. I know you might be in denial of who you are be it looks, culture, race, the list goes on but I feel it's time to appreciate self; so much joy attached to it. I love creating trends, so not a follower, though the past few years I've been in-existent yet b...

Everyone is entitled to human rights

Image
Today, I was graced with an opportunity to learn about leadership frameworks. I came across trolley dilemma or utilitarianism which left me jaw dropped. As in, it is part of leadership; ain't this inhuman? Aren't leaders meant to protect us? This is for my baby SkewedCrowns💕   This is where I'm coming from, a few months back I received a certificate in relation to mental well-being and respect for all individuals despite their mental state. A stressed, depressed, mental unstable or insane human is entitled to UNHR and is free to make choices of their own and not having others decide for them. Choices of what they want to do with their lives, services, privacy, community inclusion, ways in which they want to recover and many more. Therefore; applying utilitarianism seems like violation of human rights and not validating one's life. I may not be wrong to say it's a form of discrimination because you're choosing some individuals over someone.  If God can leave the...

Things we ignore but subconsciously hurt us

Image
Depression is real I hate to say this but it is what it is. Over the years, one thing I've observed is that we're fine until our mindset functionality is disrupted. Let's take it lowly like a kid learning how to ride a bike. We  all have values or things we believe in and push to aim for, right? Such interests give us joy when fulfilled but what happens if the opposite is true? I noticed that when our values/interests are questioned, not met, aren't in-line with our imagination or are about to die, maybe loss... we tend to fret and psychologically get disturbed. Such tendencies lead to stress. When stress prolongs, depression is the aftermath. We always believe depression is for the weak, un-monied individuals or those lacking ABC... well I'm sorry to disappoint you, depression is the state of the mind. If you cannot handle your mental well-being, you are be a potential victim. Let the inner man scream on the outside, that way you can be assisted if need be. Tired...

You cannot chase what you have

Chasing something is enough evidence of wanting something that isn't within your reach. If it was near, you'd get a grab.  I was watching a clip on IG of Will Smith talking about achieving all his dreams and reaching the 'cliff-top' nearly the same as reaching one's rock-bottom. The first thing that triggered my mind is 'achieving all you want' not being a deal breaker, how? As I pondered, this statement was dropped in my spirit, "you cannot chase what you have." One thing that kept ringing in my heard is the catching of ... that being sought for is equivalent to you starting a different chase which equals restless.  In the Bible, it is clearly stated that .... Jesus leaves the 99 sheep in search of one. He has the 99 therefore, He chases/searches the one missing. We're lacking aspects in our lives no wonder we're there running about in search of money, fame, prosperity... you name it all. Allow me say we're restless and peace seems fa...
