Beyond the startup: Growing to pioneer
I got engaged in a constructive conversation where my take home note was, "Africa doesn't have a lot of start-up and from the majority that exist, they do not go far, but crumble somewhere along the way." This resonated in my head for a while as I tried to generate possible outcomes for such and ways to counteract the beast that make companies, products, business... extinct. Today I'm not here to discuss on causes but encouraging us to thrive and push for decades in existence and possibly centuries hereafter. Truly, Africa needs Africans to rise.
To pioneer something is the greatest strength one can have. Remember, you know your vision, we don't; just waiting to see your blueprints so as to applaud or make mockery of you. Are you going to fail your vision? Believe you in me, pioneering something is never easy but always associated with the joy of the aftermath. Go on, do your research, start something, push even if you seem to be on a standstill, strategise, re-strategize, construct, build... keep elevating till you have a complete masterpiece.
The problem is we're not patient enough, we're not zealous enough and we sometimes lack diligence. One shortfall and I'm looking forward to withdrawal. We hate hurdles and reaching our rock-bottom, inasmuch as we dislike facing issues. If I ought to bake a cake, it has to be the best there is without making loss or mistakes. No room for learning from failures or re-strategizing. This assumed perfectionism has killed a lot of start-ups. At the end of the day, we're humans, let's leave room for error and not live in a facade.
It's time we change the narrative as Africans, build something tangible, grow business, create everlasting/evolving organizations/wealth, make footprints worth visible centuries to come; that "I was here," mark is crucial. Let's convert weakness to strength, obstacles to opportunities and nothing to something. It begins with you and your vision.
You vision, your wealth ~ prove it.
Thank you
