The power of non-vocal thoughts

There I was sitting by the window, staring at the drizzling rain. Tic,k tock, tick, tock, as the minute hand went, I was lost in wonderland. I could not hear the sounds of my surrounding, let alone the amazing petrichor. I kept on staring as if there was some kind of entertainment going on, only to realise how much time travelled in what seemed to be a minute. What I was mesmerizing on, believe you in me, I don’t know. Maybe my mind simply went blank. Truly, thoughts are bigger than our imagination and we can come to an agreement, “As a man thinketh, so is he.”

Thoughts somewhat govern us and ironically we have no control over them. What’s running in your mind as you read this? Thoughts, lol. Can we shape our future with thoughts? Can we build on them? Can we bank on them? As a man thinketh, so is he; really? If so, shouldn’t we add a curriculum of nurturing thoughts to the syllabus so as to build a generation of constructive individuals.

Thoughts are really powerful weapons fashioned either for one’s appraisal or destruction. We all have power to create the world we want and to imagine or envision our future. Problem lies when we get lost in thought. Never allow thoughts to control or be above you. Its ok to think of something but so not okay spending lump sum amount of time on thoughts. My pastor once said, “if whatever you are thinking about has no solution within your reach or beyond your power, let go; because it will turn into worry.” Worry is a result of long-processed thought, I believe.

I have realised that thoughts are subconsciously experienced. It is funny how anything can trigger thoughts be it smell, taste, sound or visuals. Since we cannot erase thoughts nor ignore them, we should have a way to regard the positive memories and discard the painful/awful traumas. Easier said than done. Past experience haunts us and somewhat defines our future by infiltrating fear in us, assuming it is negative. “I cannot associate myself with…; I cannot do this, because of…; I hate…; … reminds me of,” bunch of decisions centralised on experiences and thoughts of history recurring. I wish we had a genie or sweet fairy to flush away painful thoughts and retain only the good.

Think positively, dream big and go far.

Thank you
