Sealing the Cracks: The Reality of Modern Depression
Today's culture and norms has a trajectory of seeking help as a sign of weakness. I'm strong enough to..., bold enough to..., and confident/courageous enough to... We are all Hercules, Iron-man, Spiderman and Captain America of our times in our 'marvel wourlds,' yet in reality they don't exist. It's pathetic that tears are observed as a sign of weakness when expressed through pain and as a sweet gesture as expressed in good memories or joyous moments but, truth is they can be an expression of relief when hurt, in pain or wounded. Most often we end up concealing our pain, wounds and scars; showcasing somewhat flawless selves. Its damaging as it unlocks room to depression. Depression creeps in the cracks under the conceal and deals with us personally without realising it until its traits protrude.
