Theatre play: Life's but a shadow 4 (Finale)
Scene 4
In the morning hours, as the nanny prepares breakfast. The women are haphazardly preparing for their departure for the meeting with their lawyer. Mpumi is ironing her shirt. Trisha is holding a plate with food and a cup. Kendra enters the lounge with her handbag & wig and begins to comb her wig as she strikes a conversation with Trisha.
Kendra: Morning everyone. (As she puts her handbag on the couch). Mo
Mpumi: Morning, sis-in-love
Trisha: Morning, sweets.
Kendra: Mummy, I have a bad feeling that Pam might show up at Guru's law firm. She likes attention Gess, she annoys me
Trisha: My daughter she's not worth the fuss; don't let her get to you. Let's go find out what Mr Krab (lawyer) has to say. Let's hurry, so that we will arrive on time.
Kendra and Mpumi respond, "Yes, ma." They hasten and leave for the meeting. Mpumi exits with a bowl of cereal, eating on her way. Trisha grabs her car keys from the table as she exits. Kendra checks herself in the mirror before leaving.
At Guru law firm premises.
"This way ladies" a lady from the reception ushers them. They are taken to an office where Pam and Mr Krab are. Kendra tries composing herself as she takes a sit by adjusting her dress and taking a deep breath. Mr Krabs greets everyone, arranges his papers as he warns them to put their phones on silent. Pam scrolls through her phone and later places it away.
Mr Krab: The will reads, "My mansion in Kingsland goes to my mother and family. My joint accounts will benefit the beneficiaries. Pam should get the +++ BMW i5 together with our double-story in Greekway so she can take care of our son. Kendra should continue our company legacy." Thank you all, I will assist with the distribution of properties as stated.
Kendra: WHAT! Is this a joke, this whore/gold-digger gets 90% of our hard-earned money for a child who isn't Tom's.
Pam: I can see you came in the luxury of my car. Can I have the keys, please?
Trisha: In your dreams, are you nuts? Our son owes you nothing.
Pam: (Chuckles) Well, do as you wish, the car is in my name also we're beneficiaries to his multi-million-dollar account, world bank. Soon or later, you'll rightfully give us what's ours. (She picks her handbag, grabs Sipho's hand and storms off).
Trisha: (Cries out) Thomas, what sort of nonsense is this? What came over you? (She sits on the floor disturbed as she continue sobbing).
Kendra: Tom, you've killed me. Our properties, marriage... all lies. You've scared me for life?
Mpumi comforts the two. The lawyer tries to calm the ladies down.
Mr Krab: I know how it feel ladies but there is nothing we can do at this point. Do take heart. The night before his death, he called wanting to ammend his will (Trisha stops crying, Kendra gasps & Mpumi stares at the lawyer listening attentively) but because he's property was in Pam's name too, she was supposed to be available to sign papers which she refused. (He takes a deep breath) He also learnt of her marital status recently, causing him to question if Sipho was ever their child. With all evidence pointing southwards. (He pauses). He felt betrayed and chose to take his life.(Sighing) Poor, Tom. I doubt if there is a way to win against Pam. I'm sorry.
Kendra: All for the love of a child, we lost everything. Oh poor, Thomas... (She cries)
Trisha and Mpumi utter no words but have streams of tears running down their cheeks. They pity Tom for being duped and being powerless.
The End!!!
