High School Saga 4

November 23rd twas, just after finishing our end of year exams. Vanessa was history; her family had relocated to the Southern part of the country. Distance relationship did not work in our favour; so, we had to let go the affair. Bud & Buddy including myself planned to attend the epic 'pens-down party' hosted by matriculants.
November falls in the rainy season, so twas showering the entire day. The only plan I had was to get an awesome outfit for the party. I wanted to impress girls so as to find a substitute for Vanessa. Evening came, Bud picked us up with his mother's car.

We were welcomed by the blast of music coming from the dj's corner. The state, scene and mood of everything was chaotic. People behaved like animals. My friends and I took shots and yes, we drank excessively. After hours we went home. Guys, always observe the road signs; don't drink and drive, fasten your seatbelt... After half a mile of our journey, we had a collision.  All I could remember were screams. The next thing, I woke up to a beep sound in the hospital. I couldn't feel anything, my entire body was numb. My feet were covered with bandages. "What has happened to me? Will I ever walk?" Streams of tears ran from my eyes down my cheeks. My mom was sleeping in a chair right next to my bed; seeing her in this state made the situation worse. Few minutes later daddy walked in with coffee, gave me a peck and uttered the words, 'I love you, son.' This increased the flow of tears & he assisted me in drying them. As my parents were taking coffee, I noticed hurt in their eyes. Mummy said no word. The nurse walked in and instructed them to leave for the visiting hour was over.

Hospital became my home, with my parents coming for visit after visit. I received lots of 'get well soon' cards from my mates except for Bud & Buddy. I lost track of the time which I stayed there. The only question I had was where my pals were and why they never visited. Twas a million-dollar question for no one answered. The day the doctor announced my discharge, I was overjoyed because I was tired of the hospital odours.

Stay tuned for finale part!.
