Staying true to self 2
True colours
This article was inspired by a post made by one asking what true colurs really are. I found it funny to be honest because the post read, 'If you do bad people say you've shown your true colours but when you do good, nothing is said. Is true colours only associated with the bad?' First thing that came to my mind is, ain't doing good part of someone's true colours? Hilarious, right.
From my own understanding, true colours is simply who you are either good or bad. Character is shaped from your true colours. One thing for sure, character can never be masked, you can pretend for some time but not forever. So, simply be yourself. I understand that sometimes in a verge of wanting to fit in, you mask your personality so as to be accommodated. Well, it's good to be you from the onset, if you have weaknesses, you can be assisted right there and then. If you like black why act as if green is your thing. The danger of masking your true colours results in frustration because sometimes you are expected to perform in areas you despise resulting in anger, malice or unnecessary arguments. Simply be who you are, before showing/exploding your bad colours.
In order to stay true to self. Do a self-inspection of your traits and your triggers. Maintain the good ones and work on the bad. Seek advice or help from specialized people before you acquire toxic traits. There is nothing wrong visiting a psychologist or psychiatrist, it's wisdom for you will be working on self-improvement. First, love yourself enough to improve you. You are loved the way you are but need working on some areas, even trees get pruned for maximum production. Continue radiating your good colours so the world can benefit from your rainbow. My dear, be you. Let's not confuse the world with our true colours, hahaha...
